Heading to Higher Groundz

Higher Grounds

Higher Grounds

Higher Groundz in San Luis Obispo is owned by some wonderful friends who serve illy coffee.

Sir James Mackintosh said, “The powers of a man’s mind are directly proportional to the quality of the coffee he drinks.” I’m sure he was referring to Higher Groundz and their illy coffee.

Located at 3230 Broad St. in San Luis, Higher Groundz makes up fresh salads and sandwiches along with a good variety of coffee and teas. My favorite lunch is their Chicken-bacon-ranch wrap with a Mexican Mocha. An added bonus: their sugar free coffee drinks don’t taste weird like some coffee shops.

Inside, the shop has recently been upgraded with a small raised stage which is great for special music events. During the day it accommodates a nice seating area with a couch and several tables.

The openness of the room allows for more seating without feeling crowded. A corner fireplace gives a cozy feel on a rainy day and the staff is always friendly.

The outside seating is quiet and a nice place to read a book while you enjoy your coffee and pastry. Higher Groundz rates a 9 in my book. –Susan
