Amsterdam Coffee House

IMG_0760Located at 725 13th Street in Paso Robles, the Amsterdam Coffee House invites you to sit outside or within its sizeable interior.

This coffee house opened its large windows and doors to the coffee public in May 2009. I look forward to sitting inside by one of those huge opened windows on a rainy day. Nice touch–it makes the shop unique.

Amsterdam’s motto, written on the bathroom wall, states, “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”

Comfortable and spacious, this shop invites you to sit back and read a book, visit with friends, or check your email.

Wheelchairs are welcome and so are kids. If your eyes are dim, the huge clock on the side wall can help you mark time as you enjoy your coffee.

The large couches and chairs come with trays to hold your tea pots and oatmeal bowls. Newspapers are available.

IMG_0763A medium cappuccino costs $3.50 and a large mocha is $4.00. A regular coffee leaves you with $1.75 less in your pocket.

Tom tried a scone with his coffee and I chose a bran-apple muffin. Both were good. The brownies looked to die for, but we restrained ourselves. (I had to include the photo at the end of this post–the brownies looked so rich!)

IMG_0766Internet connection is accessible and two computers sit against one wall each awaiting a user.

We found the atmosphere relaxing, probably because the shop has such a casual feel to it. Cheerful servers help set the tone, making you feel welcome and special.

On a scale of 1 to 5, we give Amsterdam a rating of 5. We’ll definitely be back!
